Syncron EMS Targets Efficiency Improvements with Lean Implement Project

Florida MEP to assist Melbourne-based electronic assembly manufacturer improve production processes

CELEBRATION, FL - Recognizing that production efficiency is the key to manufacturing success in today’s economic climate, Syncron EMS announced that it will embark on a Lean transformation project led by the Florida Manufacturing Extension Partnership (Florida MEP). The project, which will train Syncron EMS’s entire workforce, will begin on June 10.

Syncron EMS is provider of “rapid-response” electronic assembly and electronic manufacturing solutions. It serves customers in data communications, telecommunications, wireless and satellite transmission, as well as medical, biometric, and optical industries. Its manufacturing facility, including three high-speed surface mount assembly lines, is located in Melbourne, Florida.

“Syncron is excited to be working with the Florida MEP to train our entire workforce on the principles of Lean manufacturing. Our company’s growth has been driven by a commitment to exceptional quality and the highest level of customer service. We see this project to implement Lean as another important step to continually improve the efficiency of our production processes,” said Syncron President John Sjolander.

The Florida MEP helped Syncron EMS secure U.S. Defense Department grant funding to support the project.

“The Lean Transformation project will begin with an Introduction to Lean Manufacturing Training for Syncron’s workforce, utilizing Value Stream Mapping techniques to identify waste and non-value-added activities in their electronic manufacturing operations. It will then employ Kaizen events to attack opportunities identified in the Value Stream Mapping activities, We’re pleased to be working with Syncron on this new initiative,” said Florida MEP Project Manager John Bankey. Syncron EMS headquarters are located at 1801 Penn Street, Melbourne. For more information about the project, please contact John Sjolander at Syncron EMS or Gene Lussier at Florida MEP.
